Most of the U.S. Heat Waves Hammered




It's been three consecutive days of extreme heat wave baked the eastern United States. Extreme heat causes power outages and some states set a state of emergency.

According to BBC news station, Sunday, July 1, 2012, residents choose a library or shopping mall to cool off from the heat exposure to 41 degrees Celsius. The state of Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, and the District of Columbia also set a state of emergency because of the power supply stops.

Recorded as the highest heat throughout history in some states, extreme heat also cause lightning storms and winds of up to 144 kilometers per hour, which claimed dozens of lives.

Recorded 614 thousand residents of West Virginia, Indiana 135 thousand inhabitants, and at least 206 thousand New Jersey residents suffer from power outages by high winds.

Incidents of power outages caused electric companies must work hard to reconnect the electricity since Sunday. Reuters news agency reported, it takes at least a week to re-normalize the flow of electricity.

In New York, the situation is more 'hot' because the power company Consolidated Edison Inc.. demonstration demanding union contract renewal on Sunday. The deal has not been achieved, so that they are all on strike and left 8.2 New Yorkers struggling with extreme heat.

According to the National Weather Service forecast, the storm will have passed mainly in three areas: the northern Rockies, mid-Mississippi River to the Ohio Valleys, and most of the Middle Atlantic area to the southeastern U.S.
